Welcome to our farm. Built in 1704, five different families owned the farm before my great, great,
great grandfather, John Hale, purchased it in 1862. Since then, seven generations of Hales have lived and
worked here.
In 1984 our farm was featured in the show, "Chronicle" produced by WCVB, Boston Channel 5, in an episode
entitled "Life on the Old Boston Post Road" as part of their series "Main Streets and Back Roads." Peter
Mehegan interviewed us about life on a family farm and the increased difficulty to sustain it.
In 1988 we were pictured in the National Geographic book, "Mountain Adventure - Exploring the Appalachian Trail."

In 1991, the dairy herd was sold and the house became a B&B and restaurant operated by my
father, Don Hale, my mother Mary and my Aunt Alice. The restaurant, closed in 1998, is now used only for
special events.
The original part of the house now boasts five comfortably decorated bedrooms for guests. The
big dairy barn, built in 1891, is used to host weddings and other events.
Currently, the only working farm animals are the chickens that provide eggs for breakfast. The
llama and draft horse are pets.
